Karin Söderquist: illustrator extraordinaire
Karin Söderquist is a Swedish illustrator and artist based in London, and I just love her work! From stylish men to cycling bears and colourful sausage dogs: everything she does makes me smile. She has a few really lovely items for sale at Etsy too, trying to choose what I want the most: not easy, I tell you. Make sure you check out the rest on her website, you will not want to leave her space.

awesome Anne Emond

Via Pikaland I found brilliant illustrator Anne Emonds comics today, and have read them all. They have everything I love in comics, which I am too tired to try and explain, so I suggest you head over there and check it out for yourselves instead. Unless you’re a anti-feminist who hates cats and don’t get irony, but then again, why would you even be reading this post if you are any of those things? Food for thought!

beautiful bento boxes
At Bento & Co you can find a wide range of the most beautiful Bento Boxes you can ever imagine. Never imagined a Bento Box you say? Well, look no further than here in that case! Oh, how I just love this kind of design: making an everyday object into something colourful and imaginative. It makes me loathe my boring plain re-used take-out plastic boxes, or IKEA tupperware. Since I do bring my own lunch to work pretty much every day, this would indeed be a nice investment for myself!

five fabulous friday finds

I love marcasites, and I love vintage brooches, and I love animals: this is a post about that. Plain and simple. I chose my five favorites from Etsy, out of the usual abundance, and they would all fit my little collection very well. Even though I am only shopping imaginatively this year (still going quite well, if I may say so myself, and to my own surprise). First is a gorgeous bird from ContempoLulu.

feisty feminism
Today I mostly just wanted to say this: I am a feminist. I have always been one, and I will always be one. I believe in absolute equality between people, no matter what gender, race, sexual preference, religious beliefs, and whatnot that others believe separates us. I have been brought up in a privileged place (Sweden), where feminism has always been acknowledged as a politically important question, and equality has come a long, long way compared to most other places. That does not however mean that I will just lean back and say “good for me”, because that is far from the reality for most women in the world. For most women in the world, feminism is probably not the most important issue of their everyday life, so it is important that we who are privileged fight for everyone’s right for equality. All day, every day, for as long as it takes. Which, I am well aware of, will be long after I am gone. But at least I will be able to say that I did what I could. I am a feminist.
On another note, I also wanted to add that Feist, pictured above, is one of the most fabulously fantastic female artists I have had the pleasure to witness in a live performance, so far. She made last night very special to me and a sold-out venue here in Stockholm. It was so powerful, and reinforcing, and quite frankly mindblowing. Thank you Feist, you are awesome!

small garden seeds
These are not from another series of Penguin Classics. These are amazingly well designed little packets of seeds, from The Balcony Gardener, found via Chronicle Books. I just love them, and if I had a balcony I would order them at once! Alas we only have a fairly barren backyard of our apartment building where the sun never reaches enough for plants to grow.

particularly pretty penguins
This chilly Monday I give you a warming selection of particularly pretty Penguins from David Pearson. I only hope Penguin will make a postcard selection from their great classics series in a not too far future, so I can frame them together. Or maybe make a wallpaper with them? It would be so awesome!
On another note, I’ve started pinning like a mad person, you can find my pins here. Only one week in though, might get tired after a while, but for now I’m having great fun and feeling very inspired!
