tangy tangerine with a hint of teal

Found here.

After another classic April weather setback with snowstorm yesterday, the sun and slight warmth we got today felt very precious. I was out doing some errands, and found myself suddenly lusting after some coral, orange and tangerine stuff. Colours I wouldn’t normally feel drawn to, but now they really represent summer and sun and all that I’m longing so much after. Here are some Etsy finds paired with gorgeous graphic posters from Methane Studios, in a celebration of these lovely colours.

Tomorrow morning I’m off to a three day conference with work, we’ll stay in the countryside in a beautiful old mansion, and I’m hoping for good discussions, good dinners and hopefully at least a few nice country walks.

gorgeous gingham

Found here.

My love for gingham is as strong as ever, and I’d love to get some new vintage dresses in my wardrobe, to increase my little collection. These fine examples would do very well, very well indeed. If I was still shopping that is. Not shopping has turned out to go really well so far, and as late as yesterday I even tried a cute 70’s dress on, but left it behind because I didn’t feel I couldn’t live without it! I surprise myself sometimes. My longing for wearing summer clothes is ridiculously strong now though, am so sick of this cold and all the layering and boring “in-between-seasons” shoes. Please, let there be warmth!

Found here.

Curious fact: my mother got married in a super short gingham white and turquoise dress in 1972. I used to dress up in it when I was little, maybe that’s when my love for this simple, pretty pattern started? Of all the gingham variations I own, I still don’t have anything in this colour though, and I think I really need to be on the lookout for it.

Not a dress, but a raincoat as cute as a dress for sure! I bought a very practical, long black raincoat last summer, and have had good use of it, but I would love this one a lot more.

Happy Friday the 13th everyone, I have always believed this day to be a lucky one and so far I have had several good news!

Åsa Westlund’s beautiful clogs

Looking for some Swedish folklore inspiration for work today, I stumbled upon and was reminded of Åsa Westlund’s magnificent painted clogs. The latest designs seem to be from 2009, so I’m not sure if they are still available, but they sure still look amazing. I don’t know if it’s a classic thing all over the world, but when I was a kid I did not care one bit for Swedish folklore, but as I grow older I’m really starting to love it and feel very proud of my national folklore heritage. I think the mix of old traditional designs with a more modern twist often gives the best result, like Åsa Westlund’s clogs.

Chinese kitchen accessories

Teapot.

Check this beautiful Chinese kitchen accessories line out from Typhoon, designed by Ching He Huang. I adore the simple lines and colours so much, and would love to have every item in our kitchen. I always used to watch Ching’s Kitchen when it was on some tv channel I used to have, and every time it made my craving for delicious homemade Chinese food immense!

V&A pretty pattern history

Victoria & Albert Museum have just launched a new series of pattern books from their vast archives, and I would most definitely like to dedicate a whole bookshelf to them at home. They come at a very reasonable price, so it wouldn’t be impossible! Some of them are collected in these nice boxes, and they all come with a free cd with high resolution pictures. Good deal indeed!

British wallpaper and fabric company Sanderson looks particularly interesting, since about a year ago when I first heard of them I have kept my eyes on their beautiful products.

And Liberty of course! What would pattern history be without them?

Heal’s is a new find for me, and I look forward to learning more about them by the few looks I’ve seen so far. It looks absolutely amazing and exactly to my taste!

What could cost me a little bit more is that I also got an overwhelming desire to go visit V&A again, since I haven’t been there since I was little. At least I would save the postage cost for these lovely books!
