Every once in a while I start planning to buy a new couch. The couches I've had so far, three in total, have all been handed down to me from family or friends moving or getting rid of them. I'm very grateful for that of course, but sometimes I feel like it's time to invest in a new one even so. The thing is though, that I really don't like modern couches, they're so big and bulky. Maybe they're comfortable, but I'll take design over comfort when it comes to furniture. I've been browsing online and found these two gorgeous 60's retro couches at Mio.



I don't know why, but I've got a serious thing for these kinds of legs on furniture. I also really both these colours, the light grey and light olive, they would both fit in very nicely in our home. They don't come cheap, but they're not the most expensive ones either. And since I never had to pay for more than transportation for my previous one, you could say I've been saving up for a new one since I moved away from home. Which is a long long time ago. I guess we'll have to go to a Mio store and try them out.

Of course I couldn't visit the East Asian Museum without visiting their gift shop. That's like giving me a piece of cake and not expecting me to eat it. I did however do my best not to buy everything my heart desired, and did quite well I must say. Screaming kids that ran around without any parents that told them off also helped, or rather prevented any kind of relaxed browsing of the little store. But I came home with a few lovely things. First 2 postcards of some Shanghai ladies. I can't get enough of them it seems.

A little washi paper box with a bunch of small square washi paper and washi paper stickers. Too cute! And I must must must take up origami. I read something promising today, that the lady that runs my favorite paper store here in Stockholm is going for a class in how to make origami jewellery, and that she might give her own class about it later. That would be great!



Look at all the lovely colours and patterns, it's like the prettiest paper garden you can imagine.



This is a bonus for having great friends, not from the gift shop, but from one of my friends who went there with me. It's a little peacock belt for kids, that I'm thinking will be perfect as a hair band. Among a lot of things, we share an obsession with peacocks.



They had some nice looking big kokeshi dolls, but they were a bit pricey and not that special in my eyes. But at the counter, just as I was about to leave, I found these tiny ones and couldn't leave without one.



Look how well it fits into my little kokeshi collection! I think it shouldn't grow that much bigger now though. (The collection, not the tiny doll.) Unless I actually go to Japan one day, and happen to walk into a kokeshi doll store ... It's impossible to tell what would happen if I did, my head might explode? I wonder if there's washi wallpaper out there by the way ...? That would be something!

Here's a selection of some of the fantastic pieces I saw at the East Asian Museum on Sunday. Later this year they're also re-opening their Japanese selection, can't wait for that. I wish I could remember what everything is, and when and where it's from, but all in all I probably saw 500 different art objects so I don't. Just enjoy looking at them as the beauties they are.

clog cravings

I know these will probably be shown on fashion blogs all over the place very shortly, and I'm hardly the first to post about it. But being Swedish I think I'm entitled to do it too. Post about Swedish Hasbeens completely amazing spring line that is. I mean, come one, look at these creations! I wasn't even a huge fan until I bought my first pair, and something woke up in me. A Clog Craving. Now I can only hope I'll find out about another garage sale sometime soon, although I guess the new models might not be on sale for a while.






I think this is my favorite as of right now! Maybe because it reminds me of candy canes.











This one in red is simply stunning too. And so many of my dresses would love them! The budget of all these shoes is basically a good holiday abroad though, which isn't really how I like spending my money. But they can't charge me for dreaming about them, so I'll keep doing that. Oh, yes, I'll sure do that.

Favorite book cover of the day, and I've actually seen quite a lot of them (approx. 40-50). From a just discovered American indie publisher placed in Hoboken, New Jersey, where Yo La Tengo comes from. That's pretty much all I need to know about a place to like it, even though I've never been there. Now I like it even more. Anyways, the publisher is called Melville House Publishing. I'm keeping my eye in them from now on. And I might have to get my hands on that book too.

dress of the day

I got this dress a few weeks ago, at Humana's half price sale, so I paid 75 kronor for it. Money well spent indeed. Today was the first day I wore it, and I loved it just as much as when I tried it on in the store. It's always nice to wear a dress for the first time and get to try out how to accessorize it best. Can't wait for warmer days to wear it too, since the upper part of the dress is the cutest and shouldn't be covered with a cardigan.



Very sweet little buttons in the front. I'm not sure what the material is, I would say a light polyester, but I guess it might have it's own name. I'm not really a fabric expert. Not sure about the make either, it looks very 40's but could just as well be from the 80's.



The sleeves are my absolute favorite part of this dress, so cute.


Today I also had my first semla in years. It's a traditional Swedish pastry that you're supposed to eat one specific Tuesday in March, but nowadays are available in most bakeries from just after Christmas to Easter. I've never been a huge fan of them, but usually had one every year anyway. Some years ago I had a really bad one though, and I was in a business meeting and felt bad to leave any, so I still ate it all and felt sick for the whole day. But today I suddenly got a semla craving and it was delicious! Which means I might just have to have at least one more before the season is over.

The weekend is officially here, and I'm very much looking forward to some nice downtime just doing this and that tomorrow. Well a few musts I can't really get around, but they shouldn't take too long. Usually I don't really mind the musts either, it takes more energy thinking about that you must do them, than actually doing them. If you catch my drift. My gorgeous amaryllis still has some flowers going, and it's a delight to see it every morning as I go to check the outside temperature in the kitchen window. Yesterday it was 10 degrees below zero. Depressing, I tell you.



I wish everything looked like this outside instead. The snow isn't even pretty anymore, it just looks like rock hard piles of gravel. But enough with the moaning now! I hope we'll get some sun this weekend, I'll be sure to spend some outdoors time. I did take a walk with a friend during lunch break today, and we went to one of Stockholm's most beautiful spots, where the view is amazing. We both sighed about how lovely our city is.



Here are some more of my inherited jewelleries: a spectacularly beautiful silver necklace with leaves. It's so nice and heavy and I love wearing it. It makes me feel regal, and mind my posture a little bit better. Which is much needed most of the time. I think it's from the 50's.



This incredible creation I haven't worn yet. It needs the proper occasion I think. I'm usually all about creating the occasions yourself, rather than waiting for them, but with this fantastic piece of jewellery everything else must be completely perfect too. Like a wedding. Anyone getting married anytime soon and planning to invite me? I'll keep my fingers crossed!



It's got marcasites! And tiny leaves! And tiny pearls! I wish I knew when this necklace has been worn, if it's been dancing, or accidentally kissed by someone aiming for the wearer's neck. I think maybe it's the first time it's been laying on Chinese silk anyway, a pretty good match in my eyes.

Speaking of Chinese: Sunday I'm going for an exhibition that shows part of the Terracotta Army, I'm so much looking forward to it. It's the East-Asian Museum that shows it, so I'm going to the museum too. And I'm guessing it'll be very difficult to avoid at least walking past the lovely gift shop they've got ...
