pretty jewellery pieces from v&a

I’m very much craving these beautiful jewellery pieces from Victoria & Albert Museum Shop. The one above is an Arts and Crafts Peacock brooch for £70. Stunning. It would maybe require an equally stunning Victorian black lace dress with a high collar, but I think that could be arranged, somehow.



This Jonquil Bunch brooch for £115 would go very well with anything I’ve already got in my wardrobe though.



V&A Feather Spray brooch in green for £25 can also be found in gold with ruby red stones.



Flowering Myrtle brooch by Michael Michaud for £85 is made of bronze with fresh water pearls, and comes in several different variations. The brooch is my favorite.



But the bracelet is quite adorable too (£125).




Finally a cute Peacock ring for £45. “Quirky, eclectic and colourful this ring is inspired by 1940’s and 1950’s bakelite jewellery. Each piece is handmade, with the images reproduced from the artist’s collection of vintage advertising and ephemera.” Sounds pretty good to me.

I guess I have to go back to London soon, and spend a week or so at V&A. Indeed I do.

cute creatures i met today

Say hello to some new acquaintances I made today, at Stockholm City Museum (Stockholms Stadsmuseum). I haven’t really visited this museum properly before, and I must say I really liked it. These particular creatures are not very particular for the museum, but that’s one of the things I liked about it: things I didn’t expect.

British company Miss Print claim to be inspired by mid-century illustration and Scandinavian design for their range of wallpapers and other interior design goods. One of the best sources for inspiration if you ask me. Although being Scandinavian, maybe I’m not supposed to pat myself on the back for being proud of good design coming from my part of the world? Nevermind! I say Miss Print are doing a very good job either way, and I wouldn’t mind having some walls with their wallpapers. This one above is from their series Pebble Leaf, in the colour Verdigris.

Dandelion Mobile in Mist Green with White. How poetic doesn’t that sound!?

Muscat Small in Rose with White.



Saplings in Turquoise with Gold. I think this last one is my favorite, although it might feel a bit dominating in a room. I would love it as a curtain actually, that would look great, especially against all my teak furniture. I don’t mean to repeat myself, but turquoise and teal do go really well with teak, that’s just the way it is.

royal vintage

At the Royal Armoury (Livrustkammaren) in Stockholm right now, you can see a really beautiful exhibition called Royal Vintage. It’s a selection of gorgeous vintage dresses worn by Swedish royalty from the 1930’s up until now, but most of them seemed to be from the 50’s and 60’s. I have to say I don’t care about royalty one bit, but I do care a lot about vintage dresses, no matter who’s worn them. So this was completely perfect for me, and I highly recommend seeing it if you have the opportunity. It will run until January 2012, so there’s plenty of time to catch it, and I will make sure to see it at least one more time. Here’s a selection of some of the prettiest ones, sorry about the poor picture quality.































This last one was my absolute favorite, it is just perfect in shape and style and colour and it looks like it’s my size. I wonder if they will be for sale after January ... Dibs if they are!

I don’t even think I need to comment on how brilliant this book cover is, do I? I love Tina Fey, she is brilliant too.

I have been completely buried in work the last two weeks, but now I’ve managed to pull through and get everything – and then some – done, so that I can take the next 10 days off with a good conscience. Tomorrow morning me and my husband are going to the airport to pick his mother and brother up, and it will be lovely to see them again. I sure hope Stockholm will show itself from it’s most beautiful side the whole time.

barefoot in april

We’re having a heat wave in Sweden at the moment, and we’re all loving it. It’s a bit overwhelming though, I’m certainly not used to being able to wear sandals and no tights at the end of April. Luckily I bought myself a pair of beautiful and super comfortable Camper sandals in London, and I wore them for the first time today, going to the park for an icecream.



I think I might have thought too much about all the Clarks shoes I wanted to buy once I was on London, because when I finally got to a store, packed with goodies, I didn’t know what to get at all. I was just running around, turning every cute shoe around, looking at them from all angles, not trying too many on at all. And when I heard that everything was 20% off that day, I got even more confused. So I ended up buying a pair of perfectly cute black ballerinas, not the pink wedges I thought I was gonna come home with. I don’t regret it too much, but I still don’t really know what happened, why I shop choked.



I also got this little nice red leather bag from Clarks, I’m liking it a lot. And I really hope this weather will last for another two weeks, since I have some leave coming up after this week when my mother-in-law and brother-in-law are coming for a visit. We’ll be making lots of outings, so the sun better behave!
