Jillian Tamaki’s awesome art

Last night I read a really good graphic novel called Skim, by cousins Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki. Being reminded of the greatness of Canadian artist Jillian Tamaki again, I thought it was time to make a post about her illustrations, since I have previously made one about her gorgeous embroideries. She is a very versatile artist, but I find myself particularly drawn to the style reminiscent of the great Norwegian painter Edward Munch (3, 4 and 5 below), apart from her graphic style. I read on her website that there is a new book coming out next year by her and Mariko Tamaki, can’t wait to read it. Meanwhile I am going to look for the others available, and keep admiring her art forever.

All pictures belong to Jillian Tamaki.
