Waterquest design for life

Stumbled upon Danish design company Waterquest the other day, and fell in love with a lot of their vintage looking things. Trying to find out where to get them from, because I really like these lamps and we need lamps. These small ones I’d like by the bed, and they also come as clip lamps which would be great for some book shelves (we’ve got a LOT of those).

This gorgeous mint green pendant I want for the hallway, which has been without a lamp for years and years. A bit ridiculous, but since it’s a room you just pass on the way to somewhere else it has worked anyway. And mind you, our apartment is not that big, so the rooms next to this almost gives sufficient light as it is. I still want this lamp though.

And the bright turquoise pendant I want for the kitchen! Check out the other lamps here.

They also carry a lot of awesome retro wind up robots and toys, check all of them out here.

Adorable kids dinner set in melamin!

Pretty little illustrated metal tray. Lots and lots more products of the cuter kind found here.

Lovely 50’s looking espresso cups, in the most perfect colours and with triangles! Score!

And a little matching sugar bowl to go with the cups. More kitchen stuff found here.

Very nice modern table, usually not the kind of thing I would go for, but a person must be allowed some exceptions, right?

And lastly a very modern, and a little bit crazy, but oh so wonderful book shelf! If we lived in a big loft, with high ceilings and huge industrial windows, this is the kind of book shelf I would like as room dividers. Nice, huh? Be sure to check out other furniture and everything else from this fantastic place.

cute cushions from the future

Found here.

I am so overworked right now, I’ve got no energy left for anything fun it seems. I would just like to lie down in a nice room full of soft pillows and sleep for a week. Like some of these beautiful cushions from The Future Perfect, found via Oh Joy.

pink spring from Jumperfabriken

Found here.

With the light returning more and more every day I definitely start dreaming more of the spring that is coming. One day. And with that feeling I start wanting to wear more and brighter colours, rather than the abundance of black I tend to wear during winter. So here’s some nice pink spring inspiration from Swedish label Jumperfabriken, but being knitwear it would surely work very well this season too.

Very nice indeed, as always. I think Jumperfabriken is to knitwear in Swedish design as Swedish Hasbeens is to shoes. Although the Hasbeens are way bigger internationally of course, at least so far.

Firefly vintage dress

Found a really nice vintage store on Etsy called Firefly Vintage, and they’ve got some lovely lovely things to dream about! Pretty red wrap dress with little white flowers, would be a perfect everyday dress come summer.

Cotton sun dress in novelty print in an excellent colour combination: olive, teal, magenta.

This 50’s turquiose number is one of the most amazing dresses I have ever seen. It wouldn’t fit me, which is probably a good thing since I’m on that shopping diet (and doing well, one month into the project). But looking and dreaming doesn’t cost anything.

This 50’s cotton swing dress has a very interesting print, it looks a bit Japanese somehow, and I love the pinks with the browns.

A cotton summer dress from the 1940’s, with a very pretty leaf print on pink.

An apple print dress from the 1950’s, how amazing can it get!? Too cute, way too cute. Oh, the lovely vintage things that are out there, just within reach on the world wide web.

Hug a Porcupine

Look at these adorable brooches from Singapore based shop Hug a Porcupine. They’re cute animals made from enamel, and are obviously meant to mimic origami; what a faboulous combination! I want them all.

There are also triangles! Very pretty colourful triangles, and I also want all of these, please.

And little tiny enamel dresses to wear around your neck!

But if I had to choose just the one piece, it would have to be this little ginger cat. Thanks to Pikaland for their post that made me find this jewel of a store.

Mr M by Lambchop

Lambchop has turned out to be one of my longest lasting music love affairs, and they’ve now got a new lovely album out. They are also one of my all time favorite live acts, and I have been fortunate enough to have seen them quite a few times. March 20th I will get to do it again, and it will as always be like seeing an old friend again. Someone you haven’t seen for a long time, but neither one of you has really changed that much, and you just sort of pick up where you left off. That’s how I feel listening to their music too; like talking to a close friend about intimate details of your lives that you wouldn’t share with anyone else. It’s comfortable, because you know each other so well; it’s a little unnerving because sharing secrets always is; and all of a sudden you will both burst out laughing for no reason anyone else could ever understand.

Just listen to this gem of a song, and try not to fall in love with Kurt Wagner’s slightly squeaky, awkward, talk-singing rough voice that sounds like nothing else, and makes me want to cuddle up in it every time I hear it. It is the voice I would spoon next to if I could, and sleep like a baby in it’s arms. I cannot explain it in any other way.

Also, the beautiful album art is made by Wayne White, like so many times before. I think Mr White deserves a post all of his own at some point.

*Update* Disclaimer: apparently Kurt Wagner has made the awesome album art, NOT Mr White this time, in case Mojo got this fact wrong. Either way it’s really nice!

something teal

Here’s another little shopping inspirational post from the vaults of Etsy, this time in the theme of teal. Adorable swallow necklace from Oh, Deer Creations.

Cotton bag with bow from Tippy Thai.

Owl print with gold from Box 64 Studios. How beautiful is this?! Amazing, if you ask me.

Dress with ruffles from Cast Couture. Also available in other colours.

And finally a cute swallow brooch from Bunnys.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

i see even more triangles

Some triangle inspiration from the abundance of items Etsy can offer. Triangle Dress in granite grey from Out of Line. I love the simplicity of this dress, and the colour, and how comfy it looks!

Turquoise Aztec Triangle pillow cover from Nell & Mary. I really love this colour!

Tote bag triangle from Bookhou at Home. The perfect tote bag, if you ask me.

Quilt geometric triangle fabric from Booster Seat. An A-line skirt in this fabric? Yes, thank you very much!

Custom coasters, also from Booster Seat. This colour combo is even more perfect than the above, so this I would want in a full dress, and I would wear that dress everywhere, every day. Promise.

swept away by shweshwe

A little bit too late in our Durban stay I thought it would be a good idea to buy some shweshwe material and bring back to Sweden, possibly for making cushion covers. Ideally we would have visited one of the bigger stores in the city, but didn’t have time for that, so a smaller store in Chatsworth had to do. They actually had a nice selection, so I got a few metres to at least get me started. Now I just need a sewing machine ... In this first picture is also a very pretty notebook I got at Exclusive Books, and a nice brooch from African Arts Centre. Very, very matchy, no?

I think this one would make a very nice cushion cover, but I am pretty sure it would also make a really cute blouse too, so we’ll see what it ends up as.

Tiny trees in abundance! All dressed in the orange shade of autumn I love so much.

This is very classic shweshwe in my outsider opinion, and a little bit too dark for cusions but maybe a tote bag? Knowing myself though, these fabrics risk being left in the pile of sewing projects I rarely get to. One reason is because I don’t in fact have a sewing machine, but even if I did I’d be a bit scared to use it. That just has to change!
